Roof Damage vs. Normal Aging

The lifespan of your roof usually depends on material, installation, climate and maintenance. Asphalt shingles are one of today’s most popular residential roofing options. When installed and cared for by a reputable roofing contractor, this material can last at least two decades.

Natural Roof Aging

Shingles have granules for protection against UV rays and other outdoor elements. A loss of these sediments is a typical sign your roof is almost at the end of its life. If your roof has bald spots and there’s a significant amount of granules in your gutters, it might be time to replace it.

Are your shingles warping or curling? These are common indications of aging. Over the years, the components keeping the shingles in place can start deteriorating. You’ll know roof replacement is necessary if most of your shingles are buckled or curled.
