It states the responsibilities of every party in case an incident happens, indicating that the insurance company is the only one responsible for limits, exclusions, and benefits, while the homeowner is responsible for the deductible. Homeowners have nearly the same responsibility if something happens as the insurance provider. It means that when you don’t pay your deductible, it’s considered insurance fraud, which can result in the loss of your coverage and home.

Since insurance companies need to automatically subtract these costs, a roofer who says they will pay your deductible can be inflating their prices on your estimate. They may also be cutting corners on the materials or work they do on your house. Your insurer will likely find out about this and may consider it as a fraud.
