Filing and Handling Hail Damage Insurance Claims

Inclement weather can damage your roofing system in different ways. Hail damage, in particular, should put you on high alert because it can accelerate the deterioration of your system. Make sure to have it dealt with quickly. And if the damage warrants filing an insurance claim, then you should do so.

Let Deschutes Roofing & Insulation, the premier snow removal, and hail storm damage restoration expert, help you get started with these tips:

  • Review your roof damage insurance terms. Most homeowner’s insurance offer coverage to roof damage caused by a major weather event. These include hail and wind damage. Once you’ve checked that your current policy does cover hail roof damage, you’ll be able to file that claim. If not, ask your insurance provider about a possible add-on to the policy that will cover hail damage.
  • Go for a prompt hail damage assessment. You only get a short window to file your claim, so before calling your insurance provider, make sure you have a few essentials already in place. These include a comprehensive assessment of the hail damage performed by a reliable GAF® roofer like Deschutes Roofing & Insulation. Our trained and experienced team will not miss any details during our inspection. And if your roofing system has sustained enough hailstorm damage to create leaks, we can mitigate them in the meantime.
  • Document the damage caused by hail to your roof. You can find a safe vantage point and survey the hail damage on your roofing system. Take plenty of photos. You can even take a video walkthrough of your property so the insurance adjuster will be able to see the extent of damage to your roof on film. Since hail damage is not always concentrated on your roof, document the condition of your gutters, siding, windows, and doors, as well.
  • Ask for help. Navigating the complexities of the insurance claims process can be daunting. But the good news is that Deschutes Roofing & Insulation can guide you through the process. We maintain a positive relationship with many insurance claims adjusters in the area and can help you with any questions you may have about the process. Since we already have experience working with different insurance companies, we know exactly the requirements they need and will be able to help you provide them.
