Roof Replacement

Are Roofing Prices Going up in Bend Oregon?

The average cost of a roof has increased by 9% over the last 12 months in Bend, Oregon. Due to this, if you are considering a roof renovation in the future then it might be worth looking to get it sooner rather than later. Prices are due to continue increasing, so it might be worth avoiding the higher prices in the next few months to years.

Prices Are on the Rise

Prices are increasing for several reasons. A key reason for the rising price is due to contractor costs. Manufacturers are increasing their prices. Thus, so are roofing contractors. They both need to so that they can make a profit. With inflation expected to continue, these costs are likely to continue to increase.

Local Roofing Contractor

With the cost of materials and labor increasing year on year, then you might wonder how to keep costs down if you do need a roof repair or renovation in the future. Although you can’t avoid the higher costs, it can help to always use the same contractor.

If you know that your roofing contractor has a good relationship with the manufacturer they get their supplies from, then it is likely that they can avoid high inflation. It can be common for new clients of manufacturers to be charged more than clients that have been with them for years. The ongoing relationship works in the contractor’s favor and the manufacturers will often give them a good price for their supplies. Thus, your costs will not be as much if you choose your well-established contractor over a new one.

Someone that has been in the industry for several years will likely be able to enjoy reduced supply costs, which will mean your costs will stay down too.

Increase in Oil Prices

Another reason for the increasing roof prices is the increase in oil prices. You may wonder how oil prices can cause roof prices to go up. Well, asphalt shingles are made using oil.

Shingles are a common roofing option. Roof shingles are flat overlapping elements that insulate a building and withstand diverse weather conditions. With Bend being an area that deals with all four seasons, shingles can be a common option. Thus, with oil prices increasing and causing the cost of shingles to increase, roof prices are increasing.

Crude oil is cheaper and roofing manufacturers that made PVC roofs started using crude oil, which lowered the overall cost of supplies and roofing repairs. But, the price of crude oil slowly started to increase. Thus, so did the cost of PVC roofs.

Another issue with oil price increasing is that contractors will need to pay more for their fuel. They often drive vans between projects. With them paying more for fuel, their increased prices likely involve that too.

It seems that whenever oil prices increase, so will roofing prices. There is no way to avoid it, for both manufacturer and contractor. It is out of the hands of those that supply and build the roofs.

Extreme Weather Conditions

Another issue is due to extreme weather conditions. All four seasons can bring new issues. During storm season, the roofs may suffer, especially if you haven’t installed the right materials.

If a contractor works in an area that is prone to storm or harsh weather, they will likely put their prices up. They will most likely need to pay more for materials as they will need the highest quality materials to ensure your roof can withstand extreme weather.

Similarly, when the weather is extremely hot, some roofing materials can easily crack and break away. This will mean roofing repairs will need to be done regularly. To avoid this, contractors will use the best materials to withstand the heat, which will cost more money.

Inflation

A final reason for increased roofing prices in Bend is due to Inflation. There is little chance to completely avoid the increasing costs of roof prices in Bend or anywhere in the world. Inflation is happening everywhere. Hence, so are the cost of roofs and the supplies used to repair or replace them. It is very unlikely for roofing prices to ever drop. Both manufacturers and contractors cannot prevent the increase of oil and the risk of weather damage. Thus, they have to increase their prices to ensure they get a good return in profit.

Contractors cannot avoid inflation as they have to pay for the materials to be able to offer customers repairs and renovations. Unfortunately, customers also have to deal with the increase in prices. But, to avoid the increasing prices and get the most for your money, it will be worth sticking with your experienced local roofers and get your repair or renovation done sooner rather than later.
