Buying the same colored shingle from different manufacturers won’t always mean they’ll have the exact shade, which can lead to mismatched shingles installed on your roof. Leaving Your Old Roof Underlayment Intact
During a pre-inspection, your GAF roofer may find damage in several sections of your roofing underlayment. This is typical if your roof is near the end of its lifespan, but it can also be caused by poor workmanship. While some inexperienced contractors may suggest repairing only the damaged sections, more experienced roofers will recommend a full replacement instead. This is because the whole underlayment material is at its end; even if most of it looks intact, that doesn’t mean it can last as long as your new layer of shingles.
